Kalaripayattu is considered as the mother of Martial arts. According to the folklore, the origin of Kalaripayattu is said to be in India. Officially Kalaripayattu is now declared as the martial arts of Kerala. Kalaripayattu falls under the 10 traditions of India that had made it to the list of UNESCO intangible cultural heritage. It is a combination of physical flexibility and mental discipline. It requires years of hard work and dedication. Since the learning process is quite difficult, this makes the present generation people are not actively involved in this particular form of martial art. And, Kadathanattu has always been the land of warriors like Thacholi Othenan, Aaromal Chekavar, Kannappa Chekavar and so on.
